Your Pet's Comfort Comes First
In addition to making sure your pet is well exercised and has lots of playtime and attention. A lot of focus is put on the cleanliness of your pet's area.
After your dog's daily routine of being fed, watered, walked, played with and brushed, I start the cleaning process. All indoor crates are completely cleaned out of your pet's belongings. The floors are either swept out or vacuumed and then disinfected and wiped down. After drying, their beds are made and a little treat is left on their bed for when they return. Bedding is changed daily or as needed as sometimes the dogs do get dirty and muddy while playing out here!
If it is a cat you are boarding, I go through the same process as I do with the dogs. Litter boxes are cleaned several times throughout the day. I also clean up any kicked-out litter after the boxes have been cleaned. Usually at that time I also give your cat some attention and play time.
If you are leaving a caged pet, their cages are cleaned and disinfected daily. I find sometimes it is necessary to clean a cage twice daily. I find newspaper works in most cases for easy clean up but some of the critters like to shred it!
The outdoor runs are checked several times a day. As I am out there more often than not, I thoroughly check the runs for any wires, holes or damage. Repairs are made immediately. I also go through and check water buckets to make sure they are full. Checking for any "doggie business" is done at this time and cleaned up right away.
When ever a dog goes home the outdoor runs are treated like the indoor crates. Everything is taken out. The doghouses are scrubbed down and disinfected. The ground is disinfected with a sprayer. The run is checked once more for any damage and holes are filled from any diggers that have left their mark.
FOOD BOWLS & WATER BUCKETS
Every time your pet is fed they are given a clean dish. I do water changes 2-3 times a day and every time I provide a new bucket. I guess the way I look at it is that my pets are a part of my family. I wouldn't expect them to eat off a dirty plate or drink out of a dirty glass either.
TOYS AND BEDDING
As I had mentioned earlier, I like your pet to come into a clean crate with a clean bed. I do change the bedding as often as needed. All kennel toys are also washed and disinfected after your pet leaves so that they are ready for the next guest to use. Before you leave my kennel, I ensure that all of your bedding, toys, and crates have been thoroughly washed and cleaned.
